Physical Science Instructor - Mr. Kapanka
This is a full year course that will touch on all the sciences. We will concentrate heavily on basic physics and chemistry. Some of the topics we will cover are:
Physics Chemistry Earth Science
Metric measurements, history of Chemistry, big bang, Laws of motion ,the periodic table, earth formation
Speed, Acceleration, Power, Elements, Plate Tectonics, Transfer of energy, Compounds, Weather
Waves, mixtures, Light and sound , chemical reactions,balancing equations, Atomic structure
Grading
Your grade will be determined by tests, quizzes, reports, notebook, participation and projects. There will be a quiz EVERY FRIDAY. The quizzes usually have 25-40 questions. They include short answer, multiple choice, short answer, and one or two longer response items that will require you to go beyond what we have done in class. The tests will have around 50 -75 questions and we will review for these. Your notebook will be checked every Friday while you are taking our quiz. We will have at least one project or report every nine weeks. All grades will be averaged together.
If you are absent
Check my notebook for assignments and notes. We will follow the procedures from your student handbook on the amount of time you have to make up work.

I am able to help students’ 6st and 8th periods in room 418. I am also available before or after school by appointment. If you need help after school hours you may call my home 419-673-8240.
Rules
1. Be on time. When the bell rings you should be in the room.
2. Be prepared. Notebook, pen or pencil, materials you may need (calc., ruler)
3. Follow the golden rule
4. No profanity
5. No food, gum or liquids.
Penalties
1. Warning If the problem continues,
2. Written assignment or ALC there will be a conference
3. Removal from class and parent informed.
