High school juniors and seniors should check to see if they have had their Hepatitis B (series of 3 shots) and Meningitis (1 vaccine) to meet college entry requirements. Their number is 419-673-6230. These are available at the Kenton-Hardin Health Department. Their number is 419-673-6230.
Girls, ages 11-18, are urged to get their HPV Gardasil (series of 3) immunizations, which are now open to everyone.
Immunizations are now $10 for students 18 and under at the local health department. Once the students turn 19, the price of these vaccines dramatically increase! No one is denied vaccines due to inability to pay.
Another school year is about to begin and with the planning for this start, parents of students entering kindergarten this fall should be aware of the Ohio Revised Code regulated and required entry level vaccines for children. They are to be completed before entry into kindergarten this fall.

For incoming 7th grade students for fall 2010 there is a newly required vaccine that they must have. It is a DtAP booster. You can receive this vaccine at the Kenton Hardin Health Department. The cost is $10. If your child is on Medicaid, please take his Medicaid card with you at the time the shot is given. Please bring or send proof of this vaccine to Kenton Middle School 300 Oriental St., Kenton, Oh. 43326 before the start of the 2010-11 school year. Your child will not be allowed to attend school until this vaccine has been given.
Verification of these vaccines must be brought to your child's school before or on the first day of classes in 8/2010. If the child has not received these required vaccines or a vaccination waiver statement has not been completed and brought to your child's school, the child will not be allowed to attend school until these vaccines are completed and proof is on file.
These are obtainable at the Kenton-Hardin Health Department or your child's doctor's office. Immunization clinics are every Thursday from 8:30 A.M. till 12:00 P.M.. and 1:00 P.M. till 4:00 P.M. If you have a philosophical or your child has a medically contraindicated condition not to have vaccines, this must be in writing and a copy brought to the child's school for his/her permanent file.
